G4M&O hits London

Gaelic for Mothers and Others
Gaelic for Mothers and Others

Holloway Gaels, in partnership with North London Shamrocks, have just completed a successful trial run of the 'Gaelic for Mothers and Others' in May to July this year.

Almost 30 women attended over the 10 week period - most of whom were familiar with gaelic football, but never actually played. The program focused on basic skill development and, of course, having as much craic as possible!

Gaelic for Mothers and Others offers an opportunity for women aged 25+ to have a go at gaelic football; return to gaelic if they haven't played for a while; and also a less intensive environment for senior players to retire gracefully into!

Feedback from all participants has been excellent - with the laughter ringing around Tottenhall hard evidence of enjoyment levels. One woman commented 'I haven't felt so alive in years! My friends have been asking what I've been doing - they can see such a change in me!'

Players can register, for a nominal fee, with Holloway or NLS - or indeed we are happy to welcome women from other clubs in London, as we are currently the only club running the program.

The plan is to run Gaelic for Mothers and Others again in September and October, culminating in a trip to Sligo and hopefully a match against another G4MAO team. Watch this space!
