Holloway Gaels Seek Back-to-Back County Titles

ree

Holloway Gaels will look to secure their name into the history books next weekend as they seek a second consecutive Intermediate County Championship title — and a historic treble — in a final clash with familiar rivals, TCG.

After an unbeaten run through the 2025 Championship campaign, Holloway now stand just one game away from completing a remarkable clean sweep of the County League, Cup, and Championship — a feat that would cap off one of the most successful years in the club’s county history.

A Familiar Rivalry

This final marks the sixth meeting between Holloway and TCG this season, and the fourth major decider between the sides in just over a year. Holloway have had the edge in recent encounters, winning four of the last five matchups, including the replay of the 2024 Cup Final earlier this year.

The last time TCG and Holloway met in a championship decider, Holloway claimed a 4-08 to 2-08 victory to lift the Kate Clarke Cup for the first time in a decade. But TCG, who held the cup prior to that defeat, will be coming into this year’s final with added determination and a clear mission — to reclaim their crown.

The 2025 panel boasts a strong mix of experience and fresh energy. Eight players have joined the Intermediate ranks this season, eager to win their first piece of silverware in London, while 20 returning players are aiming to go two-in-a-row and build a lasting legacy for the Gaels.

Guided by the management team of Oran, Liam, John, and Emily, Holloway have created a culture built on work ethic, togetherness, and resilience. That unity has not only driven their success this season but has helped the club maintain a high standard despite high competition for places.

The Road to the Final

Holloway's Championship journey began on Saturday, July 19th with a strong opening win against Round Towers, followed by a crucial away victory over Tara on July 26th before the summer break. After returning to action, the Gaels faced their stiffest test of the campaign on August 30th against TCG at Greenford before following up with wins against TMC and Wandsworth Gaels.

This unbroken run set up a semi-final match with Wandsworth on Saturday, September 27th at Barnet Lane, where Holloway once again delivered when it counted.

Now, with preparations reaching their peak on the training ground, it's all focus on October 11th at McGovern Park. A sixth meeting with TCG offers not just another trophy, but a chance to mark Holloway Gaels’ place at the top of London Ladies Football.

Best of luck to all players, management, and the background team as they aim to bring the Kate Clarke Cup back to Holloway once again.

Holloway Abú!
