Holloway Gaels 2-08

Fr. Murphy's 1-06

Holloway Gaels Junior Team made history on Saturday, April 25th, securing their first-ever piece of silverware since the team’s formation in 2021. In what was their third Division 3 league final appearance, it proved to be third time lucky after previous disappointments in 2023 and 2025.

Set against the sunny backdrop of McGovern Park in Ruislip, the stage was perfectly set for a memorable occasion. Holloway faced familiar opponents in Fr. Murphy’s, whom they had convincingly defeated earlier in the league on March 14th with an impressive score line of 6-10 to 1-10.

Heading into the final as favourites, Holloway had enjoyed an exceptional unbeaten run throughout the league campaign. Across four rounds, they racked up an outstanding total of 18-48 while conceding just 5-22—clear evidence of their strength both in attack and defence.

The final itself, however, was no easy task. Fr. Murphy’s delivered a strong and determined performance, pushing Holloway at every stage. But the Gaels showed resilience and composure when it mattered most, building a crucial lead and working tirelessly to see the game out.

At the final whistle, celebrations began as captain Kate Aughey proudly accepted the cup from London County Chairperson Orla Hillary, marking a landmark moment in the club’s history. The festivities continued long into the night, a fitting reward for the dedication and hard work of the players and management team.

Huge congratulations to the Holloway Gaels Junior Team and their management on this fantastic achievement—surely the first of many successes to come.
